My pickup is equiped with a Viper alarm that features a 2 way remote, meaning if the alarm is set off the remote fob, in my pocket , will buzz and whistle within a 1 mile radius of my truck. I had the alarm installer wire the back door of my TC. A wire is run externally under the TC overhang to the front of the TC where a conection plug connects to the pickup. The mile radius remote works long distance on flat clear ground such as a beach. It will also work if Im in the parking lot of a large store ,like Home Depot or Costco, deep in the store. If the alrm is setoff by intrusion or the truck/TC being hit, I have a chance of arriving on scene to deal with the situation. No power draw from the TC batteries. I also get more peace of mind when sleeping in remote rest areas when the alarm is set. After driving 16-20 hours Im shot, but as tired as I was I found it difficult to really rest in an unfamiliar enviroment , especially one that was full of unexpected ,unfamiliar noises. I set the alarm now and rest well knowing that if one of the unfamiliar noises outside the TC involve me, the alarm will go off.
Its been in use since 2008 with no issues. Great addition for me.
