  • Alaskan was our first choice when we decided to get a truck camper. They are built extremely well. What other brand has 40 and 50yo units still in use and selling for more then they did new?

The lack of an inside shower, the cabover walls that lie directly on the bed when folded down (on the cabover version) and the price for what you got ended up being the deal breakers for us though.
  • I owned an Alaskan up til about 10 yrs ago, loved it could go anywhere! Would still own it but I changed from a Ford to a Dodge & it wouldn't fit! So then I had to go out & buy a Lance, (most expensive darn pickup change for me!) I still look at used one's all the time but the wife won't go back to an Alaskan after being spoiled with the Lance.
  • Alaskan builds a quality product. There are several vintage units near my neighborhood.

I liked Alaskan well enough that I played at designing one and even did a factory visit. They were definitely on my short list if I had chosen a TC, but I finally decided to buy a Class C.
  • Yeah, it blows me away that people will take the interior pics as they have been usingthe camper for storage for years, and it shows! Those campers, I wouldn't waste my time, because if they've been used for storage and look the way they do, they probably have many critters living ing them too. Cool campers though
  • On the Born Free, why would anyone post a photo of a "for sale" unit and not clean the trash up, and make it look presentable? An hour of labor would make that unit much more attractive for a sale, IMHO.

Many years back, I looked at an Alaskan camper at a dealer in Montrose, CO but the deal killer was the low inside headroom. At 6'4", I couldn't stand up straight it the unit. A buyer would have to want an Alaskan real bad to pay that price.

Always fun to see what other TCers are trying to sell around the country.
  • Awww Mann I would love to have that Born Free...Yet Lady Luck is not smiling upon me
