Mark, great trip report. Quite an inspiration for our upcoming voyage to Alaska. We will be tracing a lot of your footsteps and creating some new ones as well. We also travel with a small dog like yours but perhaps a bit larger (23 lbs.). How did you get permission to get Peanut on the Alaska train passenger section? When I booked my tickets for both the Spencer Glacier whistle Stop and the Hurricane Turn Train I was told that animals had to ride in the cargo section.
Also, we plan on flight seeing the bears in Homer. Would you please tell us who you used to take care of Peanut while you went on your adventure? We are also going with Bald Mountain Air so you know it will be a long day. Too long for our dog to stay by herself.
Any other suggestions regarding traveling with a dog up north?
