And therein lies the problem. Take a look at just the gas stations around the interstates and how busy they are, especially on holiday weeks. Today, you can be in and out in 5 minutes once you get your turn. Can you imagine the infrastructure requirements for the same amount of traffic and each taking an hour to re-fuel? Nope. Doesn't work like that. The vast majority (I think currently around 97 percent) of all the charging you will ever do with an electric vehicle is at home in your garage. High power DC fast chargers are for road trips only. There will never be a need for as many fast charge stations as there are gas stations.
Workplace charging will continue to grow especially as utilities develop workplace solar arrays. But this is level 120 volt 12 amp charging or in some cases 16 amp 240 volt.
The average Electric vehicle uses 8 KW per day. There are no utilities expecting any insurmountable problems with EV growth. Just the opposite. Many are incentivizing EV purchase.
