And recharge in an hour
And therein lies the problem. Take a look at just the gas stations around the interstates and how busy they are, especially on holiday weeks. Today, you can be in and out in 5 minutes once you get your turn. Can you imagine the infrastructure requirements for the same amount of traffic and each taking an hour to re-fuel? Around town driving should not be a problem as most people will be able to refuel overnight at their homes, businesses, etc.
I realize a long trip is different and try to imagine a minute to plug in at night and a second minute to unplug in the morning. All those service stations will be just serving coffee.
I believe the time you save day to day will far exceed the periodic wait when charging on the road during an extended trip.
and that is actually a stretch. It takes us max 3 seconds to plug in and 3 seconds to unplug. Maybe twice or three times a week. A lot less time in a year hanging out a a gas station. And I don't have to wonder what the last hand that touched the gas pump was scratchin just before I got there.
Just sayin....
Hmm. unless traveling. I only go to the gas station every 2 or three weeks. Spend 5 min there. And I really don't worry about the gas pump. I know how to wash my hands.
As for plugging in. I don't really want drop cords laying all over my drive way, and I would need them as I don't park in the same spot every night. Plus, I pretty sure I would forget to unplug a couple times at 4:30 in the morning, After all. once I forgot my glasses.
Well, an EV won't move if its plugged in so no worries there. But yah, sounds like an EV is not right for you. Nothing wrong with that. They are not for everybody and not right for all situations. However, from personal experience I can tell you there is a lot of misinformation out there and forums like this are good for clarifying some things.
