Right now when most people go to the gas station you've paying a gas tax that pays for the building and maintenance of out highways. So in the future when everyone is now driving around in an electric car how are the roads and highways being paid for. My brother and I where just talking about this same problem yesterday. Something to think about. By the way he owns a Prius.
In the industry, there is a lot of talk. Heck even the shift to small high MPG ICE cars is an issue.
As long as they make up an insignificant 1-2% of sales, it likely won't be addressed as the politicians will be labeled as hating mother earth. If they ever made up even 10-20% of sales, they would have no choice but to address the issue.
