In all cases we're talking localized vs global pollution.
There's no doubt EVs reduce localized pollution, but will it save our planet in terms of net CO2 reduction? We need more data.
Let's not forget there's a lot more to electricity than just the power plant itself - increased steel, concrete, aluminum and copper production to build new towers, lines, substation transformers, overhead / underground distribution grid. Not to mention millions of more skilled workers and their vehicles to maintain the grid (good or bad thing).
Of course, some of these are offset by a lower production of crude. But then there's the battery mining sector as I mentioned before...
