Besides, the current temperature outside is 1 degree F. How well will that EV work at those temps, or even at 20 below zero? How warm will it be inside the vehicle?
You can remotely preheat the EV if it is plugged in. Even inside your garage (no fumes).
EVs can keep the interior cabin very warm. Can lose half of the range in extreme conditions but they run just fine to get you to the grocery.
So, if I want to go from Billings to Great Falls when it is 20 below, snowing, with a 15 MPH head wind, with lights on, I will likely have to stop in Stanford, 65 miles short of my destination, to charge the car for an hour or so, assuming there is a place to charge, at reasonable cost, in Stanford, MT?
No, thanks, I will drive the diesel truck with four wheel drive or the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, and not have to stop for fuel until my destination is reached.
The fact remains, I would like to have an EV for local use, but I will keep my ICE vehicles for long distance use, thank you very much.
Then there is the cost issue. I quite likely won't live long enough to pay the fool thing off! No, I won't be buying one.
