I have run ONLY Michelin tires for 40 years now. They have always given great service. Earlier this year I traded in my Honda Element. It had Michelins with over 120,000 miles on them and all 4 were still going strong.
I try to buy from someplace like Costco that has free balancing and rotation built into the pricing. Then I go back every 3-4 months.
There is no real secret to getting long tire life - just keep them properly inflated, and get them rotated and balanced at appropriate intervals. The other 'secret' is to keep the vehicle aligned. I try to find somewhere that I can buy a 2-3 year unlimited alignment package. Then go back every 6 months. It's much, MUCH, cheaper to buy a plan like that.
Some might say that spending money for these things is more expensive then buying new tires, but keeping your vehicle aligned (for example) affects much more then just tire wear. Take your hands off the wheel and apply your brakes sometime. If the car pulls to one side, it very well could be due to not being aligned.
