We've got both a 2010 Sequoia and a 2011 long bed, crew cab, 1 ton truck. I will say my loaded TT has 1500 - 2000 lbs on yours though. There is a very significant difference pulling between both vehicles.
The truck has a far superior pull behavior to it but I equate that mostly to the much longer wheelbase. The added weight and firmer suspension of the truck also add in to the better pull, very rarely does the entire truck/TT combo get pushed around. Do I ever tow our TT with our Sequoia anymore...no. I will say that maybe you could look into a better set of higher load rated tires for your Sequioa, make sure and verify what your wheels are load rated at first. I believe we went with a load rating of D on our Sequoia for newer tires. It did make a difference.
