We've got both a 2010 Sequoia and a 2011 long bed, crew cab, 1 ton truck. I will say my loaded TT has 1500 - 2000 lbs on yours though. There is a very significant difference pulling between both vehicles.
Anybody that thinks towing with a half ton and towing with a one ton is about the same has never towed with a one ton. There is a huge difference. The OP has one of the premium hitches and that does help with sway but if the trailer is still moving around the half ton (even if they are moving together) then it is time to upgrade the tow vehicle. I tow sometimes on the ball in windy conditions and the trailer does not push around the one ton. Never had white knuckles when towing. White knuckles is a red flag that the towing experience still needs some more help.
