already looking to upgrade

Hi and welcome! Very smart doing your homework before rather than after signing on the dotted line. We also have an F-150 CC with the 5.4 and factory tow. It does a fine job, but be very cautious about those "honest" dealers that will swear you can tow most anything, because you can't. We just made the move from our beloved Rockwood ROO 23SS HTT to a Rockwood Ultra Lite 2604 and are just plain crazy about it. Not that we didn't love our ROO, but when you get the AARP magazine every month and then your Medicare statement comes the next day, things change. It was a good change for us. You may well find that all the things you are wishing for right now will not fit into the package you'll be able to safely tow and have the needed wiggle room. Suggest you make your list of "absolutely have to have", "would like to have", "don't care" down to "not on your life". If your kids are old enough to enjoy sleeping in their own tent right outside with the friend they've brought along, there is your solution for needing extra sleeping space. If the weather turns nasty, you can always makeshift. This time with your previously owned will let you know how you want to camp, what you like to do, what you can't stand doing. In addition to going to RV shows, spend a good bit of time online comparing. Lots to learn. Good luck and let us know how the shopping goes. Meanwhile, enjoy!

I could have written the exact same story about a year ago. We bought a used 2005 Keystone Hornet to pull with my 2009 F-150 5.4 liter. It was a salvage title due to hail damage, but it was only cosmetic. We also wanted to make sure we liked it before we put more money into a trailer. We sold the Hornet about a year ago and went to many shows and dealerships over the winter. We settled on a Keystone cougar 31 sqb, we have two kids and just love the space of the new trailer. I have no regrets, however I did upgrade my truck to a F250 after my first long distance tow. We always took the kids and had a blast at every rv show or dealer that we went to. Don't sweat it. Some people try to get your goat and nitpick. Welcome to the forum!

We all have our reasons for larger, smaller, different styles, colors, etc.

We've gone from a PUP to a HTT, and now look at (bigger) TT's and MH's. If it wouldn't require an upgraded tow vehicle, there would probably be one in the yard now :B

Glad to hear you are enjoying camping AND your family is enjoying your time together, too! Ask questions, opinions, etc. There is just about any kind of camper you can think of here that someone owns.

Your first rig usually will not be your last. This I can attest to.

Yeah. I live in the Pokes and commute to Bedminster. I only have time for weekend camping and haven't been out too much this season. Our hybrid sleeps six comfortably, the remaining can pitch a tent.

Not sure why anyone "deserves" anything. Having said that, remember RVs depreciate faster than anything else. Buying new will cause your wallet great harm. Many people buy new, use the RV very little, and then sell. Therefore there are many very gently used RVs to pick from.

I would keep what I have for about a year so that you know what you would like and what you won't need all the while looking for a very nice used unit.

Well I feel my family "deserves" an up grade, If you read my post I said that We planned on using our unit untill the end of next year at least.. Im not oposed to gently used but would prefer maybe a left over.. we have plenty of time to keep looking..

tatertot13, You can with an adapter, but it isn't going to give more usable amps. You still have a 30 amp max load in your RV.

dont under estimate your 1/2 ton.....set up the right way you wont have a problem.

hi all, were newbies to all this, need help, just bought a new 2014 milan eclipse 24 bhs. planning on breaking her out this weekend. first question: Can i plug in a 30 amp tt into a 50 amp service or do i need an adapter?

we actually did this very thing this past weekend..My buddy and his wife slept with us and the kids ( five of em) slept in a tent.. worked out pretty well except for the night it down poured, the trailer was REALLY crowded that night..ive been looking at a few that can sleep 8 that my truck can tow.. most trailers at 27 ft and under. Man there are sooo man trailers out there..Ill just keep pluggin away..We have some time.
