already looking to upgrade

New guy here and Im really happy I found this place. seems like a lot of friendly, knowledgeable folks here..my question is the wife and I just bought a used Kodiak Skamper.. Its a 2005, its really in good shape but is showing some signs of wear so my thought is, finish out this season and next season then upgrade. the reason we bought used was we wanted to make sure we absolutely loved rv camping..Well, we are positively hooked to say the least.. so now, if this is going to be a life long passion of our growing family I think we deserve something a little (ok, a lot)newer..so what Im looking for is a travel trailer with a rear slide and at least one other slide. maybe a bunkhouse, sleeps 8 and an outdoor kitchen, and preferably under 28 ft. Im towing with a 2012 F150 8 cyl..It doesn't have to have a ton of bells and whistles were just looking for a good, reliable camper. I appreciate any and all imput, being we are TT newbies..Thanks all

  • Whats up scrubby,,,JJoe here.. :). We need a njh camp a thon.... This a great place to gain some insight on TT... We did a years worth of research before settling on ours.... I'll pm you my number as I got a new phone...
  • LOL, you are hooked!

I suggest you go to as many RV shows or dealers as you can. That way you can check out the different makes, layouts etc. We bought new last year and I didn't want or need all the fancy extra's. Of course, one day we were looking and the princess castle of TT's appeared in front of me. I had to have it, LOL. We did the deal all but final sale signature. We went home and on the way stopped at, just one more place. Reality set in as we found exactly what we were wanting to begin with. We wrote the cheque then called the other place to cancel. We love our trailer. It has the extra options that we wanted but no granite like surfaces or stainless appliances ( all blk works for me).

Enjoy thevtrailer you have now and have fun shopping for the new one.
  • Congratulations on your new to you trailer. Being bitten by the camping bug is a good thing. My best memories in life often revolve around camping.

My suggestion is to go to a large show where you can compare brands head to head. Keep in mind your towing capacity, payload capacity and invest in good quality towing equipment. Your safety is priceless, so don't skimp on a good hitch.

We had a Keystone Bullet for three years, and loved every minute in it. This year we went to a MH, and we're loving that too.

I hope your family has many fun camping adventures.
  • Welcome to the forum. There are 100's of options out there. Enjoy finding the one for you.
