I ended up purchasing the (3) step Brophy. Great product and USA made quality shows!

Rarely do I camp where the ground is flat. Usually I have to ramp the rear tires and this will cause the step up to the camper to be higher. I recommend a 4 step for that reason.

You'll get all sorts of responses, I'm going to throw a monkey wrench in it.

Consider NOT putting them dead center. I had an AF 1150. The thing that bugged me about the factory step was always having the door opening in my face.

I put the steps (5 step for the record) 18 inches off-center to the passenger's side. No more door opening in my face. Especially nice if I have an armload of something. I could also still use the factory step if I needed it in the center.

Just a thought.....

At minimum you need 4 step. Top step flush to bumper top (29" is what we also have at bumper) will be just about level. If your bolting above bumper (under door) then a 5 step. If you went with the Torklift glow steps you can add/remove treads (they bolt together verses rivots). I have a set-cant say enough-but I also changed up to the 8" wide X 20" wide treads. The 8" treads are nice but note: tread nose to nose is the same-approx 8".
So with a std. 6" tread plus ~2" standoff for bracket-top tread nose would be about 8" from bumper, 2nd tread heel that might hit would be ~7 1/2"-8" down and ~9 1/2"-10" out from bumper. So 6" or 8" treads clearance at 2nd step & reciever end @4 1/2" cant see it being issue. easy enough to measure.

Question why does the tape measure show 30"? though 4 step still work..

Our camper has no bumper.Our bracket is mounted just below our door and that is 37" from the ground the 1st step is 5" below that and sticks out 13" from camper. 2nd step drops down 8" and extends 20" the bottom of the camper is 32" from ground. We have 4 steps.
If you have dogs look into the TorkLift SafeSteps it prevents the dogs from stepping thru the steps and gives a more secure look to the steps for the dogs.

The hitch clears the second step with stinger and ball attached.

A typical step height is about 7 inches. I would go with a four step stair.

1mtnman, as you have 41" from step mount to ground I can see why you need the 5 step model. As my camper will be 29" from step mount to ground I would love to see photos of some other campers who have similar drop dimensions with either the 3 step or 4 step models.

As I understand, with either model the steps will always be horizontal. The difference will be how close the steps are located to each other.
