Aluminum siding

To those of you who have or have had RV's with the aluminum lap siding, what products and methods did you use to keep the siding looking well cared for?
  • I use Spic-n-Span on the roof, and Zipwax on the sides once or twice a year. Reliable RV cleaner on the black streaks. After 6 years, the side that always faces the sun is starting to chalk and dull a little, so this year I'm going to try something to bring back the shine.

When washing, don't forget the gutters. That's where a lot of the black streaks come from.

    X2
  • I wash the TT with soap and water, rinse and then wash again with Mothers wash and wax.

I do the same to the TV. Depending on usuage, I wax it twice a season.
  • I clean mine with either a weak mixture of krud kutter or a bottle of "Really Good Stuff" I get from Dollar General. Have never waxed a TT yet.
  • I use what ever car wash and polish/wax I happen to have on hand for use on my vehicles. It keeps my aluminum sided Sunline TT looking great as well. My trailer isn't fussy about brand name, neither am I.

I use the same and couldn't agree with you more! My TT has three seasons of camping (I know that's not a whole lot) and still looks new. For those black streaks that are a little more stubborn to remove, I found simple green works best, even better than black streak remover.

Me too. My aluminum sided TT was waxed with MeQuires, and looked as good 10 years later as it did when I brought it home. It takes the black streaks off, and refreshes the paint.
  • My TT is 9+ years old and I wash it a few times a year. I waxed it twice and it sits in the Florida sun and still looks fine. IMO aluminum siding is superior when it comes to aging.
