Over the past 10 years or so, the trend has been that people want bigger trailers and just don't understand payload versus tow rating. The problem is compounded by RV sales people that are willing to encourage people to buy too much trailer for their tow vehicle. Consequently, we've seen a lot of posts about people having problems towing and having to upgrade their tow vehicle. I don't think things will change as long as folks expect to bring a complete house on wheels and tow it without spending for an adequate tow vehicle.
