Is it possible this is not an electrical problem. If the engine dies as soon as the generator tries to pick up the electrical load, it might point to a fuel delivery problem. When running unloaded, the engine needs very little fuel so it appears to run OK. As soon as the generator starts to feed power to electrical system, the engine power needs to increase proportionally. However, if there is not enough fuel getting to the engine, the RPM will fall and the engine will either stop on it's own or possibly shut down automatically on low voltage and/or low frequency.
Hello and thanks, Im 99.9% convinced that it is not a fuel issue for several reasons... I can manually run the RPM's up on it now and it runs fast and hard, no sputter or stammer etc. It hums away happily at high RPM. Also, I didn't want to mention this earlier and add to the confusion but, at one point this problem was intermittent... Two times I have been able to run the generator "normally"... no shore power, air conditioning on and working etc. off of the Generator. But, then it goes back to doing this same thing and shutting down. it's only run correctly twice, once while testing it in my driveway and looking back, It's possible I forgot and left the shore power plugged in? But one time while camping, with no shore power available, I was showing a mechanic friend of mine what it does and low behold, it came on and stayed on and ran the A/C unit etc. I was shocked. But it's never done it again since, still shuts down. So it's semi-intermittent deal but WAY more no worky than worky.
Thanks
