THANK YOU Kevin, GREAT info here! Sounds like I can disconnect the Gen feed from the PTS (post inverter) and then see if the gen still runs after throwing the CB? if it doesn't, then the problem is farther "upstream" than the TPS, if it does, then the problem is the TPS or downstream from there!
Correct. I suspect the generator is still going to shutdown disconnected from the camper, but like I said I wouldn't want the generator to power the camper until I was sure it was fixed.
I think that is the first and easiest step for me to take. Can I just leave the two leads "open" (with wire nuts on them to protect from "zapping" anything) or do I need to wire them to a device and create a load?
I think I would put a 100w lightbulb on the inverter output. It will put a small load on it, and it's a good visual indicator for you. A quick and dirty way to do that would be to go the hardware store and buy a temporary light socket (an insulated light socket with two short wires, used for hanging bare bulbs from the ceiling when a house is being wired up) and connect that to the inverter leads instead of just capping them.
Thanks again!
OH, P.S. do you have a link where I can download the manual for that Generator? I have the owners manual but not a repair manual? Thanks
Here you go.
Note that yours is a model 941-1 or just "941". There is also a -2, -3, and -4. There are physical differences in the various models, so be sure you get the correct parts manual for yours. You can download the parts manual from the same place the service manual comes from. generator-parts.com I think I've bought parts from them in the past. I've also used this place, A.S.A.P.
