Well it might be , but it's not the drivers call . Way back when I had to back track 300 miles because a particular pass in CA ( long time ago , don't remember name ) was closed if you had no chains . Here in the north east we have no chain laws that I am aware of so I was not prepared . I have plowed snow for more than 20 winters here in NH and have never chained up . In fairness though , the west has different conditions . After seeing some of the idiots slip slidin' away around here , maybe we should consider some chain laws .
