Another backup camera question

Thanks to the help I got here we purchased a 2016 Silverado with a touchscreen radio last week.
It does not have the backup camera option.
It does accept "projection " input from a USB port in the console (great for running a GPS from a phone)
Anyone know of an add on backup camera system that will work?
TIA, Mike
  • I think it depends.... I've read on a GM forum that some couldn't do a factory install and some could. I do it recall why that was.

Look into something called the lockpick.

It's a hacking module for touchscreen nav systems in modern vehicles. Add all sorts of cameras, TV receiver, DVD, etc
  • I would check on adding the factory camera.

I purchased a second OEM camera to install in my V-box when I have the tailgate off. Cost about $175 for camera and two OEM cables. You will most likely have to pay for a dealer to program for it. Chris
  • I'd like to go with an aftermarket camera and factory screen if I could
  • You can add the factory camera. Another option is to just go aftermarket with a camera and a separate screen.
  • Mine will let me play movies surf mail just about anything that will come through a USB port including phones hard drives and thumb drives- but it's very restrictive what you can show on the screen while in drive

My 2010 F150 Ford truck System Console has this USB Connector... have no idea what it is for... Would be neat if I could use this to get to my system console video screen... My OEM F150 Backup camera is displayed on my console screen when I go to Reverse on my truck.

It would be nice to be able to use the console screen from my laptop/tablet/cellphone etc...
