With a family of 6 you should really consider a full size van. Maybe go rent one for a weekend just to try one out. We were a family of 4 plus a good sized dog. We loved our full sized vans. Excellent visibility for everyone, and everyone had their own seat. Our kids are in their 30's now so we no longer have one. But if we ever see any grand kids and thought we needed it I wouldn't hesitate to get another. JMHO.
A full size van is the best value for the dollar, but a friend who has 6 kids and a 2012 Ford E-150 van has some complaints after living with it for a while. They wanted room to spread out, definitely needed more seating space than a Suburban. But, they complain that the rear seats do not recline or adjust in any way, so the van is great for short trips but not good for long trips.
For 6 people, an Expedition EL or Suburban would be great. Just don't let anyone talk you into a short wheelbase Expedition or Tahoe. You need to actually have usable space behind the third row seat.
