Want to talk about a POS? The 75 Maverick was the POS poster child. I had to take my drivers license test in that thing, and try and pick up girls while in high school with it LOL.
Yep,
I still have a '73 Maverick with a 302 that I bought back in '82 as my first car.. had 77K miles when I bought it, that "pos" as Ralph claims was driven by me up to '99 as a daily driver and has 297K miles on the clock..
I didn't treat it kindly after putting a 289 HiPO 4 barrel intake, Holley 600 CFM 4 barrel carb, Mallory Dual point dist, MSD high voltage coil, higher compression pistons and a slightly hotter cam..
Had a blast making many a large block Chevy's eat my dust :B
Only had two times that I can remember that it left me down on the road during that time.. The key difference was I MAINTAINED the vehicle, I proactively checked things and repaired it BEFORE it became a problem..
Sadly, in '99 had to pull it off the road due to road salt damage to too much of the frame.. Still have it but undrivable, a few yrs back bought '76 that I am now rebuilding and will transfer the good parts to it..
As far as the OPs problem, well should have bought a F250, our '97, 2003, 2006, and 2013 F250's all have dip sticks under the hood..
Maybe Ford saved the $1000 price difference in removing the dipstick from under the hood..
Next time, lift the hood before purchasing, I think the OP will find that Ford is not the only one that has cheeped out on some models..
