When we moved up to a super cab with long box from a regular cab long box, I was surprised to find how much harder the extra 20" or so of wheelbase makes it to maneuver, esp. when doing right turns at city intersections. When pulling our trailer, I have to be careful doing right turns at intersections and often need to make a wide turn to avoid hitting a curb or going off the pavement into a soft spot or ditch. Parking the longer wheelbase truck in a parking lot can be a real PITA, whereas with the short box, it wasn't much worse than parking a car.
If you want to be able to haul lumber and drywall and can use the extra volume, get a long box. If mostly either towing or commuting or are a city dweller, get a short box. Now that we have a super cab, I could never go back to a regular cab. Can't imagine never being without an 8' bed. What I don't like is the 4WD. Never use it and I find for myself, the additional height also contributes to making it harder to maneuver.
