Mold, fungus, or rot needs three things to grow--the correct humidity level, a surface to grow on, and food. Remove any one of the three and fungus will not grow. Bleach kills mold as does Phenol, an ingredient in original Lysol and Listerine mouthwash. Git Rot is a good wood treatment against any further wood deterioration.
