I thought I'd re-post the bracket picture as well as adding the scaled CAD drawing I'm giving to my welder so he can fabricate me a new bigger, better, more powerful, just all-round great bracket! ;)


As you can see, I have decided to change to orientation of the brace (diagonal support) in order to offer greater support. I figure after this is done, there will be absolutely no movement on the bracket or floor when I step on the fold-out steps.
I was very surprised to see that the method they used to attach the bracket to the trailer frame was just with a large sheet metal screw! sigh... SMH... And another thing: the floor was holding up the bracket, and not the other way round. Now the frame will support 100% of the weight placed on the bracket, including the floor above it.
