Not really: you're dealing with a huge amount of force due to leverage once you start using the stairs. Also, the size and the placement of the holes is very important, as well as the square holes for the carriage bolts that hold onto the steps.
Lastly, there is a whole steel thickness issue, where I'm adding 1/8" steel plate to the existing 1/8" steel plate. This is all about beefing up this bracket so that it no longer is supported by the floor, but supports the floor.
I gotta admit, I never even thought it looked like a shelf bracket before, but now, that's all I can see! hehe! :)
