Look on the bright side, at least it died in your yard... and not 500 miles from home.
I have had several truck or camper "events" which almost left me in a real situation. Some my I have been lucky enough they died when I either had spare parts with me and was able to safely get off the road or it died here in my yard.
Our last campout , now about 2 weeks ago the alternator died. Long story short since I tow with my lights on for saftey that drained the truck battery totally dead after the truck was up and running when we left the CG. The truck was eventually running off my dual battery bank on the camper... When I shut it off here at the house after we got home, there was nothing to crank the truck with:E.
Ford has a relay in the 7 wire charge wire so as long as I never shut the truck off I could get enough power from the camper to run the truck.
Good thing we did not do a potty break, would of been having to deal with a dead battery and alternator out on the road.
All I can say is, it happens... If the good times outweigh the bad times, your ahead of the game.
Good luck on your next adventure and good handy work on fixing the camper. You have done well
