Antifreeze

Hi to all. we are full time in a campground. Can antifreeze or something else be put
in the holding tanks to keep them from freezing? Thanks God Bless.

That't not a fact at all.
One assumes that you would properly prep the system when putting the anti-freeze in; that includes draining what you can and mixing what's left to mininize the dilution. How "useless" it becomes with dilution depends on how MUCH dilution there IS>

  • With sufficient pink anti-freeze in your holding tank and pipes, I would think you could have running water for sanitary purposes......but I don't know how low the temps can go with that stuff.

    Others will know.
  • Sorry forgot to change my profile. We at in north Jersey. We will stay through the winter. We will have no water except buckets for the toilet. I thought every few day empty into a five gallon pail and take to the dump station. I figured antifreeze will keep the tanks from freezing. Thank to all for yet info.
  • Really no need to, except a small amount to protect any seals. As long as they're empty, air doesn't freeze and any liquid will have room to expand, which is the reason pipes burst.
  • Yes but you need to use RV antifreeze, which is not poison like the automotive stuff. It's pink.

BUT....where in Florida are you ?
If it's south of about Ocala, you shouldn't have to worry about it.
  • Yes it can, but draining them is cheaper. It's summer just about everywhere so I do think you will have a problem for a while
