It will be interesting seeing the mileage differences between the 3.42, 3.73 and the 4.10 ratios. I believe they all have the front axle lock out feature now with the 4WD models. Have you noticed that feature with yours Jim?
Rick, I'm going to have to some research on the front axle lock, haven't noticed the feature with my model, but again, I've not had it a week until tomorrow. I'm going to follow up on that one.
Only thing I can compare to is the 2010 Ram dually I had, same configuration as truck in my sig, only in Laramie trim...I had it 2yrs. 7 months and put a little over 38,000 miles on it I think...I had the 2012 HO, same as in sig for 4 months and put 3700 miles on it. Now I have truck in my sig....it has about 190 miles on it...
Only comparison I can do between the 3 would be using the EVIC (Lie-O-Meter:)). I believe one difference in the trucks is that the 13' with the new frame and Aisin tranny probably weighs more than the 10 and the 12...Going by the EVIC, (only cause I haven't had truck long enough to do a re-fill and hand calc)....This truck with combined city/highway driving is getting a little over 15 mpg....if I had done the same driving with the 10 and the 12 that I've done with the 13 over the last 6 day's, mpg would have been in the low 13 mpgs.
It's all I can go by right now...I'm heading up to WV this weekend and will drive 260 miles or so and proabably 210 or more of that will be interstate...It'll be me, the wife, two boxers and a few things in the bed of the truck...driven these same roads with the 10 and the 12 at the same speeds I will drive the 13' at...will report mpg when I refill (I will hand calc at that time).
Really looking forward to towing with this animal and see what mpg will be like then....
ON EDIT: Rick, about the front axle disconnect, I get the impression that it is done "automatically" when certain conditions are met. Through a computer? All I can find on it is that "it's on there", and it's supposed to help with mpg, but it's not something that I'm aware that I can select when I want to.....if I'm wrong about this, it SURE won't be the first time(:
