Correct 3% ain't much and if you could hold speed in 3rd gear down to like 50 mph without a downshift that's about all I'd expect though.
Probably got a little deep into the pedal and a little slow and she kicked into 2nd trying to gain speed based on throttle position.
Overall, it's a new truck. Run it like a rental, IMO. If there's something wrong I'd rather have it happen under warranty and if there isn't, then you're not hurting anything to put your foot in it.
Maybe also just a bit of over expectation for the 6.2 as well. Which gears? Mine were 3.73s and I could see deeper gears helping a good amount.
