The wife and I are in "conversation" about this. I want to leave the trailer plugged in at home all of the time. That way the fridge can run, I can run the AC when wanted/needed and it spares the batteries.
The wife says it's a waste of electricity and we should only plug it in when needed and the fridge can run on propane.
Your wife doesn't know what she is talking about. - mosseaterExplorer IIMine's been plugged in for six years non-stop (except when towing) and I haven't had any trouble. Keep an eye on the water, that's all.

Think of it this way. People that full time in rv's have it plugged in all the time. Nothing to be worried about
Took the words right out of my full time keyboard.
Will it hurt anything?
In 8 years it hasn't hurt anything in our trailer. - Community AlumniMine is not plugged in for two months, December and April; I check the battery level about every 3 months and add water about every six months.
- mhardinExplorerMine has been plugged in for about 12 years now. It is only unplugged when on the road. I boiled out a couple of batteries until I discovered an attachment to my converter to make it a 3 stage converter. Fridge is always on and takes overflow from the house, especially during holidays.
Mike - 93Cobra2771ExplorerI keep plugged in, but fridge is not running. No use running it with nothing in it. A few days prior to a camping trip I'll turn the fridge on.
- korbeExplorerOurs is plugged in right now in our driveway. the frig is off and the batteries are switched off. This winter, when we're done campin' I'll disconnect shore power too.
- 2112Explorer III have mine plugged in, fridge running on AC with beer, soft drinks, ice, condiments etc in it year round. It's my man cave next to the garage. I was out there cooking yesterday so not to heat up the house.
I have boiled out a battery on an old style converter years ago so I turn off the battery disconnect now. Turn it on Saturday morning to charge and turn it back off Sunday evening. I have been doing this since 1998. - BmachExplorer III'm in the if not using it why run it camp. To me it is unnecessary wear and tear.
- kgarrett9999ExplorerI leave mine plugged in all the time. Electricity is much cheaper than running the fridge on propane plus I keep the TT at a reasonable temp in the Texas heat. I don't empty my pantry between trips and most foods keep better at lower temps.
Matter of fact, I just installed a 50 amp service in my garage for the TT and run the power cord under the garage door. Cost me about $40 in parts and an hour of my time.
