Just curious, but what is the proposed application for a larger displacement EcoBoost in a truck?
1/2 Ton Market / Heavy-half Market
Do we need more power? Not in my book. Having moved from an 8.1L in my last rig to a 3.5EB my EB has within 30 ft lbs of torque and more hp. I also prefer the way the 3.5EB delivers power and have no trouble accelerating up a decent hill pulling 8k (I have the HD package with higher GVWR and a good hitch setup). To be clear the 8.1 is a great engine with better engine braking and a great engine note.
Super Duty
Super Duty trucks are built to work for a living. You need the duty cycle and if you are hauling a Bobcat around you don't care much about milage. When you are in the turbos on an EB you are not saving fuel anyway. You also want the engine braking. Want more power? That is already covered with the 6.7 diesel.
Good luck,
Stu
