Hello from Idaho.
I was wondering how many true old timers we have here..Back in the day before even the Camper special or any factory tow packages. We learned from experience about what would my truck take or how much we could safely pull...
Howdy, we have lots of old timers in the forums who were pulling or hauling some type of RV back then. There has been several threads on "what was your first RV".
Made my first tow for hire in '64 with a 3/4 ton '58 GMC and a 16' flatbed bumper pull trailer with 5725 lb axles. Graduated on up to several one ton DRWs and GN flatdeck trailers pulling 25-32k combined. Used the same trucks carrying several truck campers in the '60s and '70s. So I know what a LDT is capable of for several hundred thousand miles.
It boogles my mind at the huge upgrades these trucks have gone through since that first old '58 GMC.
