Have never done it and wouldn't. Even though there is insurance, you don't know anything about the renters, if they have the first clue what they're doing, and when it comes down to a time when you may have a claim, you can't be sure that the insurance is going to be what they're saying now. Actually, a form of this question has come through from time to time, such as "would you loan/rent your trailer to a friend or family member" and the overwhelming answer was NO!
I've never heard of a dealer offering to handle renting it out for you - if it's such a good idea, you'd think they would have an assortment of their own available for rental.
Even if you can only use it once a month or so, you know how it's being cared for. It's an investment and you don't want it trashed. There are companies that rent exclusively and they're pretty pricey. If someone is interested in renting, I'd steer them to one of those companies. Definitely NOT your own.
