I would put that on my 3500 srw and not bat an eye. Can I do it safely? Sure I can. People seem to not understand that towing safely is the driver, not the equipment.
OK so what weight rating are the tires on your SRW and what is the unloaded rear axle weight?
What I stated above will add well over 5K to your truck and most of it will be added to your rear axle.
My 2013 3500 will handle 4075# pin weight ready to go just fine. I've had more than that on my 2005 2500 and the tires are rated less. I'm not saying I would run coast to coast at 75 mph but I would take it anywhere I wanted to go and do it safely. BTW not all of us collect rocks and store them in the closet over the front.
