For years been saying butt ugly and that the 'fashion statement' crowd has overtaken this
market sector...and that they check off every option box on the order sheet...
that has driven the pricing of pickups and SUVs over into the lux arena
That they 'think' taller is better...mean looking better for 'mines bigger
than yours' and that most of them do not know squat about a truck...which is
why they are turning more into 'cars' then trucks. I no longer enjoy looking at
the new Suburban, as it is no longer a 'truck'/'SUV', but a huge station wagon
They have turned current 4x4's into non-4x4 for me. Dash mounted and
interlocked push button so that they won't push them both at the same
time...or wrong time...computer controlled shift that takes a tech
+4 hours to dial it in...to read so many coming here and other forums
saying they have been driving in 4x4 on pavement and now it is making
a funny noise...to advisers saying it is okay to drive on pavement, etc...
'Ride quality' is more important than ratings...ratings is an unknown to many/most
of them...
So the OEMs listen to their best customers...AKA Fashion Statement Crowd
Hope they move onto some other LAGS thing (latest and greatest syndrome) like
they did with Volvo, SAAB, Peugeot, etc...anyone remember how they were the 'to
die for' back in that day...as was the number of cup holders...
When my +35 year old Silverado dies (soon)...am going to look for a
50's or so 1 ton pickup. My Sub will continue to be my TV for a looong time
This picture posted gets me excited for those trips through Calif's
Central Valley towing a vehicle hauler looking for that 50's
replacement pickup...with ZERO lines of code vs the advertised (bragged)
100 Million lines of code for the new F150...No SMOG and can do
whatever *I* want to it!!!!
