Anybody installed air ride or air shocks for trailer?

I'm considering installing air shocks on trailer. I would really like a air ride system, but I guess they aren't available for a trailers. Or at least I haven't found one yet.

We have about the same amount of bounce that most people have, nothing really bad. But all that wear takes it toll over time. And our roads are not getting any better, that I've found.

I know tire air pressure and rear kitchens have it worse (back of bus effect).

Several trips now I filled up a glass of water and put in sink, was surprised how much bounced out.

Wondering if you've installed them if almost most of bounce was eliminated?

  • Once again, not a one of you answered his question. Yes I have had them. Currently I have an Arctic Fox and there is no good way to mount them. They eliminate some bounce, we had Michelins and airbags and a rough bridge will jerk you around anyway. Still running air all around on our TV.
  • In general, air hitches / pinboxes help the ride in the TV and do fairly little for the trailers ride. Something attached to the trailers axles (centerpoint, shocks, EZ flex, etc) help the trailers ride, but don't do that massive improvement for the TV.
With My truck and trailer, side to side rocking of the trailer can barely be felt in the TV, front to rear rocking of the trailer gave me whiplash in the drivers seat. My Air pinbox all but eliminated that, and the centerpoint (in my opinion) should make the trailer last longer, as the frame and everything aren't getting the doodoo pounded out of it driving down the road.
  • I don't have an airbag set up, but I do have the Dexter EZ flex. Huge change in how it tows. It no longer bangs and bounces over every bump. The ride is smooth. Well worth the small $$$ investment!

We have centerpoint air ride on our fiver. https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=center%20point%20air%20ride%20suspension%20system
  • I installed a set of joy ryder shocks on my 5er and it made a big difference. No more broken glasses but again dirt roads are still a bit of a challenge.

  • I have centerpoint on mine.. We have left open cans of soda (kids) just about everywhere, and they don't bounce. Get cut off on the road, and all bets are off.
