To answer your question, my gasser in signature below tows my 12k fiver Ok. If I towed more than I do (about 2k miles yr), diesel would be on my short list. Like I said, the GM 6.0 gasser has what it takes to make most Hills without slowing but it works. If you do go with a gasser, make sure you get the lowest gear axle ratio available.
