According to the OP the tech said its a fuel related issue that caused the HPFP to fail. So why wouldn't the fuel supplier be to blame? They should be responsible for the repair bill not Ford. Or did I miss something?
Because ALL diesel fuel has water in it. It just depends on how small of an amount you want to look for. Many 6.7 Ford owners have stated that their WIFL did not come on but their CP4 took a dump. The water in fuel is a scapegoat for Ford.
The first gen CP4 pumps were junk. VW knows it, GM knows it and Ford knows it. Even Bosch knows it and that is why there is no more first gen CP4 pump.
Ford was the only one out of the 3 that says so sad too bad. VW and GM both say sorry for your problems, pull er into the bay and we will fix it for you free of charge.
In Fords defense, why should they fix it for free? Much like Honda, their customer base is legionary. It's been proven over and over and over that their customers will keep on coming back no matter what they do or don't do. GM and Dodge can only dream of having a customer base like that. Whatever the marketing department is doing in Ford they are doing it right. Good for them.
