I have towed 8500 pounds with a 5.4 half ton before, and still at least 1000 pounds under capacity. It isn't going to win any races, but it is doable. The gasser in a one ton definitely will do a lot better.
Ouch. The HPFP costs 2-3 grand on eBay, while $200 can get me a gasser fuel pump, and I might not even have to drop the tank to install it. I appreciate the torque and HP of a diesel, but there is something relatively simple about a gasser.
