We belong to an RV club. Many of our members are on fixed income. Six rigs were going to Yellowstone this summer (1,000 miles each way), all cancelled. I don't totally believe those that say they are going no matter what the cost is. I go at 60 cents per mile, but have my limits. When it gets up to a dollar or two or three per mile, I will stay closer to home. Spending five grand on fuel to go out the exhaust pipe seems like a waste of money that that could be spent on camping enjoyment locally. We are fortunate to have really nice places to go close by.
In 18 months since November 2020 the price of diesel has gone up 272% in my area. At this rate of increase, in another year and a half, diesel will be over 15$ per gallon. I don't believe it will happen, but that is the trajectory.
