Anyone convert a TT to all electric?

Anyone convert a TT to all electric? Although we are excited about buying one, I have problems when cooking with gas. The fumes make me feel ill, so am wondering if I can just take an electric hot plate along, or buy a small electric stove/oven combo, if there is such a thing....

Also wondering about the gas water heater...whether it would emit any fumes. I feel ill around gas log fireplaces, too, so I am quite sensitive to the after-burn.

I wonder how we could get around the gas water heater....?

  • Only the oven/cooktop? As nothing else uses combustion air or exhausts gas directly into the RV. This can be replaced by a electric skillet or hot plate and small electric oven.
  • Many water heaters work on either gas or electric. FWIW, I only run mine long enough to shower in the morning. About 20 minutes total. In typical summer weather you'll have warm water for hand washing for the rest of the day.

I do good with all things propane except the propane fired gas heater. It does bother me pretty good. Fortunately we don't use ours every much. Always use oil-filled portable electric heaters and plug into the camp ground 20AMP service for those.

The COLEMAN Grille is fired by the propane 1lb canisters which doesn't bother me at all. I've never really thought about the gas stove burner bothering me...

Thanks, Roy! That is another idea! I was also going to do a lot of crock-pot cooking! Does the water heater in the TT not bother you?
  • Thanks, Woodglue! I went to their website and placed a call for more info, but had to leave a message.

I googled "green TTs" and Jacyco was mentioned as well. I called them and they said that they stopped being "green" but their website still says that they are. Confusing.
  • Yep, Lance has no appreciable odors compared to other brands. I've never been in any other brand that is the same as a Lance as far as odor goes. Or lack thereof!

They're made in California, under very green standards and the AQMD (Air Quality Management District) standards.

I read your other post where you're worried about when off-gassing would stop. If you're sensitive to open gas flames, there are a lot of trailers where off-gassing seems to never stop!!

You might want to consider a "greener" trailer like a Lance because of the lack of any kind of unpleasant odors.
