My 18" wheels were okay on my F250 when I had my Arctic Fox (7000 lbs on the rear axle). However, once I hitched up my trailer, I had to be really careful how I loaded the camper and the trailer to not be over their limits. That got old really fast trying to keep the axle around 7500 lbs loaded and I went to 19.5's.
My F250 had a 9800 lb GVWR and it was typically at 11,500 lbs with the camper and closer to 12,500 lbs once I switched over to 19.5's and was fully loaded and hitched.
