Baby diesels are being produced for the fuel mileage crowd to brag about, and real diesels for towing are still being produced.
But you forget about the population that wants decent fuel mileage and still wants to be able to tow a 26-30 foot camper that weighs 7500 lbs. My friend falls into that category.
Just because a large diesel is capable of pulling huge trailers doesn't mean that its not a good option to have a small diesel that is capable of better fuel economy while still having sufficient power to pull a small to mid size trailer.
