sorry, looked all thru my owners manual, and dug deep on the NET, and still cant really find this. 2011 featherlite. just wondering when I take down each bunkend, the matresses fold, do you take the mattress out when you fold down that the bunkend, and then fold the mattress and put back ontop of the white poles? and then when you setup you have to take matress completely out of the bunkend to extend it? previous owner didn't show me and im not sure if theres an easier way..thats all..thanks,

We have a ROO, so it may be different with the Jayco, but think it's probably about the same. Your mattress should fold. It stays inside the bunkend when it's closed up. Then tent itself will not fold neatly, so don't worry about that. Ours has some snaps that hold the mattress in place when the bunkend is closed, some have some sort of straps. It's unusual to have to remove the mattress to transport, so check for that fold.Re the pole, we just lay ours down on a shelf area that's just inside the bunkend - actually a part of the bed area. One VERY IMPORTANT thing to remember when closing up the bunkend is that you absolutely need to make sure every little piece of fabric/canvas/bedding is tucked inside. If you aren't meticulous about this, it's an invitation for water to seep in during a rain. BTW, you can leave bedding on the mattress and just fold the whole thing up unless it's something bulky. If it's bulky, it just makes the closeup part more tricky, so take it off and stow away.Do you have bunkend fans? If so, those will have a plug-in like the old stereo type near the top of the bunkend or in the ceiling right alongside. Those fans clip onto the pole once you're done setting up. It will hang either straight down or parallel to the pole....personal preference.Hope you have a nice, dry weekend so you can really get into the HTT and see what's what.Oh! totally aside from bunkends, but a word of wisdom gained by experience.....before you turn on the water heater, make sure there is water in it. Sounds simple enough, but our dealer forgot to do that and we burned out the heating unit.....they replaced right away with a sincere apology. Check this.

thanks dadmomh...I cant figure out a way to fold up the bunkend without taking the mattress out first, I take it out to fold it up or to set it up, but then I put back during transport...was just wondering if you have to lift up mattress and remove from bunkend to fold up and setup, and then put back after

I have a Jayco 23B. I take the mattress out, fold up the ends making sure to tuck all fabric on the outside as 'dadmomh' stated. I then go back into trailer and the rear mattress on mine can fold and tuck into area between folded bunk end and bathroom wall. I place the support pole inside the folded mattress. On the front, there is a small ledge near along the bed. I place that folded mattress up there and I have 3 straps that go from the seat up to the ceiling that hold that mattress in place. We have a Starcraft. Our mattresses fold, but we take it off the bed and it sits between the dining table and bunk when in transport. It's lightweight and isn't a big deal at all. This year we are adding some foam to our mattress so it will be a little more labour intensive, but still no biggie. Have a great time in your new HTT!

I'm with LEMII.
I fold the mattresses in half with the pole in the mattress.
The rear is held up by the bathroom wall.
Side and front bunks are held up by the straps. I slide them to the side just enough so they don't fold down onto the bed.
I then go outside and close the bunks.

No need to remove the mattress and then lift it back to the "shelf" that supports the mattresses.

With our 23B Jayco, I stand the mattresses up (and they stay up on their own) then close up the bunkend. I do not see the beneift of removing the mattresses completely, folding the bunkend up, then trying to stuff the mattresses back in. But, different strokes for different folks...whatever works for you.

Very similar arrangement in our 06 232. With the exception of the rear bunk, we pull the 2 piece mattress out until the door is closed and latched. Then we secure the mattress' behind the door with the manufacturer provided straps. I'm with everyone else in making sure there isn't anything in the hinges or door frame before locking up.

I fold up the mattresses onto the floor, carefully close up the bunk ends, and then strap them up on the ledges of our starcraft.

We have a 2003 Jayco Kiwi and our mattresses are in two parts for easy closing of our ends.

My wife usually folds the mattress with the pole between the halves. At the same time I am outside tucking in the canvas and closing the door. Much easier with two people. If I were lone I'd have to close he door first, then come back inside to fold the mattress and strap them to the inside of the bunk end door.

Oh, I have them too. I was talking about the snaps that some hybrids have that holds the mattress down to the bed itself. Sounds like our procedure is pretty much identical to yours.

I have a 23b. The mattress can be folded up with the bunkend, but it us so much easier to close up the fold the mattress and stuff it in behind the bathroom wall after.

Different years may be different. On my 2010 Jayco 17Z I don't have snaps or anything to hold the mattress down to the bunk door, but I still leave the mattress on when closing it.

I just fold the mattress in half and close the door. The canvas is fully attached. The aft bunk is behind the bathroom wall so the wall holds it in place. The front one I just hook the straps firs to hold it when closing the bunk door.

I always removed mine to fold in the bunks. It is much easier to tuck in all of the canvas and close the latches. I'm not sure they would close with them in place. I might just try it again this weekend to see for sure.
