My 98 24V was so noisy I sold it just because of that. It was a great truck but with the 5th wheel on it ran at almost 80 decibels on level ground at 60. Stock exhaust and added a resonator. It couldn't hold OD at that speed with the 3.55s without jacking EGTs to the moon. and most roads we travel except interstates are 55 mph. The 05 we have now is a dream in comparison and the newer ones are almost Prius quiet with double the power and more.
Not to mention the stink eye we got pulling into.......well anywhere. We sure couldn't sneak up on anybody. 100 decibels at the left wheel well at idle on pavement. The 12v models were not as bad and some of them evem had double wall oil pans which really knocked the noise down.
