I can understand the acceleration decrease, but the gearing should have been able to move your trailer with ease.
When I was initially looking to upgrade, I wanted something that had equal to or more output than my 6.0 PSD with 325 hp and 570 lb-ft since I was happy with the power. The 6.7 PSD in the pickup may be rated at 440 hp and 860 lb-ft, but the chassis cab was only 300 hp and 660 lb-ft which was why I was serious looking at the 6.8 V10 with 362 hp and 457 lb-ft. There was less of a change in the CTD between pickup and chassis cab tune which got me closer to what I originally had.
