Would be interesting to hear from somebody who rented 6.7l and measure the performance.
Now thinking about it, my present 6l has poor start below 1600 rpm as well, but once it passes 2000 it really kicks.
Maybe at the time I was spoiled with 7.3 low end torque that could pull a house on idle.
It was your other thread got me looking for a new 6.7L, now sitting in my driveway alongside the 7.3L which will be for sale soon. I haven't driven it much yet, but my initial impression is the 6.7L is vastly stronger from idle to redline. Vastly. At the same time making considerably less fuss. I can clearly hear the stereo, and I can't hear the engine at highway speeds.
Just drove from here to San Jose (empty, 65 mph on cruise). On the way down, a bit of a North wind, arrived with 22.9 mpg shown on the meter. On the return a headwind now, through the Livermore valley struggled to get above 18 but then the wind abated and I arrived back in Napa showing 19.6 mpg. Don't know how accurate the meter is as I am still running on the dealer's tank full. But when a regen kicks in, is does 12.5 mpg for about 20 minutes ;(.
