I've followed the 2017 Super Duty rumor mill for a while now and I'm pretty jealous of those that can afford such a grand purchase. The 2017 is a complete ground up design and in my opinion one of the greatest features is the fully boxed frame for significantly greater structural rigidity. The new 6.7L is a monster as well with best in class power and torque but reliability is yet to be seen. No I'm not a paid shill for Ford but to be honest I wouldn't turn down the opportunity if they were offering...
One thing I'm not quite certain on is all of the integrated camera / infotainment system. Yes, it looks amazing at what it can do but ten years from now how much of that stuff is still going to be operating correctly? I really wish manufacturers would standardize their protocols and allow for aftermarket info / entertainment options to work on these newer vehicles.
Lastly, how long are the smog systems lasting in these trucks? I ended up with the 7.3L in part because the smog systems are so less complicated. I liked the newer trucks but I didn't want to get stuck spending thousands of dollars trying to get my truck to pass smog here in California.
Anyway, congrats to buying the new truck! I'll temper my envy by looking forward to purchasing one in about 5 to 7 years when they start hitting the used market.
