The 8 speed has some real nice gear ratios, and I really can't wait to tow with it. I will link you to the chart I made, although it does compare my Jeep to a Ram 1500, but you will get an idea.

I saw the ecodiesel ram at the PA outdoor show. Loaded up it quad cab, and it only had 700lbs carrying capacity. Keep the lib, and I wish I did too. We got rid of the CRD back in 2009 with 100k on the clock and a global timing belt backorder.
